Ramsthel Estate Gives Additional Gift To
Community Fund For Nursing Scholarship
Rolland Ramsthel continues to give to the Burwell Community Foundation, even after his passing. The Burwell Community Foundation received a $38,927.14 gift from the Rolland Ramsthel estate that will be added to the Rolland and Irene Ramsthel Registered Nursing Scholarship that was established in 2006.
This additional gift from Rolland Ramsthel estate was the remaining balance in an Individual Retirement Account. This is a perfect example how individuals can plan to provide for themselves during their lifetime but then following their departure, prior established planned gifts are directed to the charity of their choice.
Rolland established this scholarship to honor his wife and also to provide funding to assist individuals seeking nursing education. This scholarship is for graduating seniors in the upper one third of their class who enroll in a two or four year program leading to a registered nursing degree. Seniors from Wheeler Central, Loup County, Ord, and Burwell High Schools are eligible. This scholarship provides $1000 for each year the recipient is enrolled in college.
Rolland was very thankful for the nurses who assisted and cared for his wife Irene, and felt he could do something to promote careers in the field of nursing.
The Burwell Community Foundation felt it was only appropriate to recognize Rolland and his continued generous giving. He gave charitably to something that had affected his life deeply and now this fund will continue to make a difference in many lives, both by educating much needed nurses and also the lives they touch while working in the nursing field.
