Primary Election 2010- Early Voting
Those registered voters who will not be going to the polling place on Election Day are allowed to cast an Early Voter's Ballot. This can be accomplished in one of several ways.
The voter can appoint an agent to sign an application on his/her behalf and request the County Clerk to mail ballots to a specific address. The deadline to apply for ballots to be mailed is 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 5th.
A voter can also cast an Early Voter's Ballot in person in the Clerk's office once she/he has the ballots in her/his possession. Check with your local County Clerk for Early Voter Ballot availability.
A voter can request Early Voter's Ballots to be mailed to her/him at a specific address by writing to the appropriate County Clerk: Loup County Clerk POB 187 Taylor NE 68879-0187; Garfield County Clerk POB 218 Burwell NE 68823-0218; or Wheeler County Clerk POB 127 Bartlett NE 68622-0127 and requesting same. Such written request should include the voter's name, his or her residence address, address where ballots should be mailed(if different than residence), political party, telephone number (if available) and precinct (if known) and be signed. The Application for Early Voter's Ballot, which is published in this newspaper, and also available in the County Clerk's office can be used to request the mailing of ballots. Any sheet of paper will also suffice if it contains the aforementioned information. Early Voter's Ballot requests can also be faxed to the appropriate County Clerk. E-mail requests cannot be accepted.
An Application for Early Voter's Ballot can also be completed online, printed and mailed or faxed to the appropriate County Clerk. The form is available at http://www.sos.state.ne.us/elec/ele_forms.html by clicking on Early Voting Form.
One more way to vote by Early Voter's Ballots is by appointing an agent to personally pick up the Early Voter's ballots and deliver them to the voter. Either the voter or the agent may sign an application. Early Voter's Ballots may be obtained by an agent for personal delivery to the voter from the time said ballots become available until 7:00 P.M. on May 11th, Election Day. No person shall act as agent for more than two registered voters at any one election. Neither a candidate for office at the election nor anyone serving on a campaign committee for such candidate will be allowed to act as an agent for a voter unless such person is a member of the voter's family.
All Early Voter's Ballots must be returned to the County Clerk's office on or before 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 11th. This applies to ballots being returned in person or by mail.
Anyone having any questions on early voting is urged to contact your local County Clerk's office.
