 Don Snyder began working for Howard Holmquist in 1968 Don went on to college and graduated from pharmacy college in 1975. Although accepted into medical school, Don chose to return to Burwell and assumed management of the pharmacy department at Burwell Pharmacy. Beginning in January of 2000, Don, and Rita Snyder entered into a purchase agreement with Howard and Shari Holmquist and will assume ownership of the Burwell Pharmacy when the terms of the purchase agreement are completed.

The location of the Burwell Pharmacy changed in 1976. The business moved from its original location in the Hub building to its present location on the corner of the northwest side of the square (the former Plock Furniture building).

The Burwell Pharmacy currently employs four full-time employees and two pharmacists. Besides a full-service pharmacy department, the store features gift and sundry items, Hallmark cards, Russell Stover candies, Fontinini collectibles, and a bridal registry. The store, motto reflects the business philosophy of Howard Holmquist and Don Snyder and their caring attitude toward the community: "We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Sometimes we lock the doors, but if you can find us, well open the doors for you."
