Dad's Calamus East


220 N. 13th Street on the Northwest edge of Burwell

 Dad's Calamus East is owned and operated by Evelyn Gregory and is conveniently located on Highway 96 leading to the Calamus Reservoir on the west edge of Burwell.

Dad's caters to the outdoor enthusiasts and carries a large inventory of fishing tackle, live bait (nightcrawlers, shiner minnows and leeches), boat oil and accessories, life jackets, and other fishing essentials as well as self service gasoline and diesel. The business also has a nice selection of camping equipment and grocery and personal care items to replace those items often forgotten at home while packing for the trip to the Calamus Lake. Ammunition and hunting supplies are also included in the inventory and fishing and hunting permits can be purchased at Dad's.

Evelyn maintains a variety of wines and liqueur as well as many of the popular brands of beer and wine coolers. Grocery items and sandwiches and the usual snack items are also on hand .

Over two hundred movie titles are available for rent at Dad's including new releases and old favorites.

Dad's Calamus East is a favorite early morning meeting spot for many locals and this is one of the aspects of the business Evelyn enjoys most. "I enjoy meeting new people and visiting with the travelers heading for the lake but I probably most enjoy visiting with the local regular customers."

The business hours for Dad's Calamus East are Sun-Thurs. 7 am - 10 pm; Friday and Saturday 7 am - 11 pm.
